Aviva Investors has launched the Aviva Investors Carbon Removal Fund (CRF), a new investment vehicle designed to focus on nature-based and engineered carbon removal solutions. This fund aims to provide institutional investors access to diverse opportunities targeting key environmental projects, including afforestation, peatland restoration, mangrove conservation, and commercial forestry.

Through these projects, the fund seeks to support the development of scalable carbon removal initiatives that contribute to global efforts to combat climate change. The CRF is classified as an Article 9 fund, a designation under the European Union’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) that signifies a commitment to sustainable investment practices.

“We think our fund is truly at the forefront of how asset managers can best capture these opportunities. This is a fund designed for investors with ambitious decarbonisation pathways in place and that are looking for ways to hedge against exposure to carbon pricing,” said Daniel McHugh, chief investment officer at Aviva Investors.
