Camosun College's "Array of Hope" solar project is an innovative initiative aimed at reducing the institution's carbon footprint and promoting sustainable energy practices. Funded by a $97,000 USD grant from EBSCO Information Services and additional funding from the college, the project involves the installation of approximately 90 photovoltaic panels on the lower southwest roof and walls of the Lansdowne Library. This installation is expected to cover over 50% of the library's electricity needs, producing 46 MWh/year and providing a visible, dynamic "living lab" for students and the local community.

The "Array of Hope" project not only contributes to Camosun's sustainability goals but also serves as an educational tool. An interactive information kiosk in the library offers an immersive learning experience about solar energy, and the project has garnered strong support from faculty, students, and the Camosun College Student Society. By integrating practical solutions to the climate crisis into its curriculum and campus infrastructure, Camosun College demonstrates its commitment to fostering a sustainable future and empowering students with hands-on learning opportunities.
