Amcor Capsules and Moët & Chandon announced a new partnership that will see the latter brand utilizing a new kind of foil for its signature champagne.

The ESSENTIELLE foil is positioned as a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic-made alternatives and maintains a 31% lower carbon footprint when compared. The foil packaging features a 60% aluminum composition with the remaining material consisting of paper sourced in Europe. Consumers will start to see the packaging update on the market in Europe starting in October 2024 ahead of a smooth finish version that will launch in the first quarter of 2025.

Amcor Capsules Managing Director Yannick Magnon spoke on the Amcor Capsules and Moët & Chandon ESSENTIELLE foil saying, "The launch of the ESSENTIELLE plastic-free foil draws attention to the expertise at our Mareuil-sur-Aÿ site, which specialises in the manufacture of foils and is located in the heart of the Champagne region. Amcor Capsules is drawing on ESSENTIELLE to revolutionise the industry by offering a recyclable, plastic-free solution that suits the fast pace of their packaging lines, confirming its major role among wine-growing players, here in Champagne.”
