Biodegradable Mycelium Grills

The MYC is a Sustainable Disposable Grill Made from Edible Material

The MYC grill is a testament to innovation. Necessity is said to be the mother of invention, and for humanity, we necessitate sustainability and eco-friendly alternatives more than ever. With that in mind, industrial design student Stephanie Singer created the sustainable and biodegradable MYC.

This impressive spin on a classic household item is made from mycelium, a fireproof vegetative part of a fungus. In addition, the fungus part of the grill is safe to ingest for humans. While most disposable grills allow barbeques to take place outdoors without the hassle of lugging around heavy pieces of metal, the aluminum waste they create is problematic. Singer's solution to disposable grills creates an eco-friendly alternative due to its biodegradability. After a meal is cooked, grillers can cut up their MYC and fertilize the earth with its remains.
