Plastic Toothpaste Tube Campaigns
'The Killer Smile Campaign' Addresses the Impact on Wildlife
Debra John — October 15, 2024The 'Killer Smile Campaign' is a collaborative effort involving Kintab, the Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines (MWWP), and BBDO Guerrero. This campaign aims to raise awareness about the environmental impact of plastic toothpaste tubes on marine wildlife. It features three impactful visuals showcasing a dolphin, whale, and polar bear, all depicted as being formed from toothpaste and positioned atop a toothbrush: These images serve as a representation of the harm inflicted on marine animals due to the irresponsible disposal of plastic toothpaste tubes.
As such, Kintab provides "a sustainable alternative to traditional toothpaste through its toothpaste tablets, which are locally sourced, vegan, cruelty-free, and packaged without plastic." To enhance consumer connection, the tablets are offered" in packaging that resembles traditional toothpaste boxes, containing two variants—Blizzard and Herbed—along with a bamboo toothbrush" for a comprehensive sustainable brushing experience. Additionally, the packaging includes information about the threats posed by plastic to marine wildlife, presenting the product as part of the solution.
