The conceptual 'LAYERS' sustainable sneaker system is a modular take on footwear that combats against traditional manufacturing methods in favor of a more eco-friendly approach. The sneakers maintain a three-part construction achieved with a self-locking design to interconnect each component together and eliminate the need for stitching or glues. This allows components to be easily swapped out as they become worn instead of needing to be completely replaced.

The conceptual 'LAYERS' sustainable sneaker system is the design work of Diogo Pimenta and maintains a stylish construction that could be easily worn by consumers of any age. The fashion product identifies what could be done to elevate products into more sustainable styles. The sneaker design was a nominee for the 2021 Green Concept Award.
