Recycled Fruit Bags

Superfresh Growers Introduces a Collection of Recycled Apple and Pear Bags

Superfresh Growers has taken a significant step in the apple and pear industry by launching the first fruit bag made from post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR). This innovative PCR bag meets SGS Global Services certification standards and holds FDA approval for food contact, allowing recyclable products like milk jugs, plastic bottles, and other materials to be repurposed and reused instead of dumped in a landfill.

Remarkably, the cost of these PCR bags is similar to bags crafted from 100% virgin plastic. Additionally, Superfresh Growers' PCR bags can be conveniently recycled through existing plastic bag and film recycling channels, ensuring consumers do not have to journey far to recycle these carrying tools.

“The PCR bag was an idea we formed a couple of years ago – we wanted a solution that could utilize recycled plastic resin and give it new life. As more products utilize PCR, it will help generate a market for that recycle stream, driving demand and increasing recycling rates.”
