An outdoor gear and apparel company, REI, has partnered with a local nonprofit to increase the accessibility of public parks in five different cities -- the new initiative is titled the Rewilding Project.

To achieve this, REI invested $603,000 into the improvement of the parks, with the overall goal of enhancing accessibility by building more trails and encouraging a more sustainable management of the parks.

When discussing the Rewilding Project, Kristen Ragain, REI's philanthropy and community partnership manager asks "What if we reimagined how people connect to the outdoors in cities, and how the outdoors connects to cities?" This long-term brand strategy benefits the environment, encourages consumers to explore their urban environment and aligns REI's values with that of conscious consumerism.
