Wallbox, a company specializing in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has opened pre-orders for the 'Quasar 2' charger and its 'Power Recovery Unit.' As "the first bi-directional charger designed for the Kia EV9, this innovation enables eligible owners and lessees to use Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology."
With bi-directional charging, the Kia EV9 can act as a backup power source for properly equipped homes. In the event of a power outage or severe weather, the EV9 can send energy back into the home, ensuring a continuous power supply. Furthermore, this technology may help reduce electricity costs by allowing homeowners to use stored grid energy or solar power during peak hours. Additionally, V2H offers greater control over energy use, enabling users to schedule charging times or direct power to specific areas of their home.
