The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) is launching a new carbon-neutral export model to transform its business operations and support triple exports while reducing emissions. This decision reflects the country's mission to become a leading eco-friendly textiles and garments supplier. The carbon-neutral export model, spearheaded by Chairperson Dr. Ayyaz Uddin, hones in on solar energy adoption, promoting sustainable raw materials, and fostering government/industry collaboration.

Some significant steps include setting clear targets for net-zero exports, launching a carbon exchange in Pakistan, and introducing incentives to encourage sustainable cotton farming. Additionally, by incorporating carbon accounting into education and research programs, Pakistan will equip future industry professionals with the knowledge and skills to thrive in an economy prioritizing sustainability.
