Paper-Made Avocado Packaging

Sainsbury's plastic-free avocado packaging is making its way to the brand's various locations in the UK as part of its commitment to reducing use of plastic and shifting to paper alternatives. The packaging update will be observed on the brand's private label Ripe & Ready Avocados twin pack and will save an estimated 20.2-million pieces of plastic each year once fully rolled out. The packaging update is being launched at a total of 77 Sainsbury's locations to start with additional locations being added later this year.

Director of Product & Innovation Claire Hughes spoke on the Sainsbury's plastic-free avocado packaging saying, "Switching to paper packaging across our Ripe & Ready Avocados twin pack is one of the many steps we are taking to fulfill our commitment towards a greener future. The initiative reflects our continuous efforts to help develop more sustainable and innovative packaging solutions and we’re excited for our customers to try out the new packaging in-store."
