Mycelium Foam Compostable Earplugs
Gob Develops a Pair of Sustainable Mycelium Earplugs
Amy Duong — October 21, 2024Product company Gob has unveiled a special design in the form of the Mycelium earplugs. It is a compostable product that offers an alternative to the 40 billion plastic earplugs produced on a yearly basis. It is entirely created from mycelium and it can break down over 45 days to 'feed the soil.' It has a light cream color due to the material and is meant to be single-use for optimized hygiene and performance.
Gob shares, "Our mycelium foam plugs go beyond just being compostable – once they've done their job, they return to nature by breaking down into nutrients that feed the soil. As a USDA certified, 100 per cent bio-based product, our earplugs contain no microplastics and no harmful residue – just pure mycelium doing what it does best: regenerating the earth, naturally and without compromise."
