McDonald’s Singapore has made a significant step toward sustainability by replacing its plastic cutlery with eco-friendly wooden alternatives across all its outlets. This transition began in October 2024 and was completed by December, marking an important milestone in the fast-food giant’s efforts to reduce plastic waste.

The company supports long-term ecological goals by phasing out single-use plastics in favor of renewable materials while encouraging customers to embrace greener habits.

Looking ahead, McDonald’s has announced several new initiatives in the pipeline for 2025, all in line with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, a national blueprint for sustainable development. These upcoming measures aim to reduce waste further, conserve resources, and promote environmental awareness across its operations.

"The shift to wooden cutlery is expected to eliminate approximately 26 million plastic cutlery or 250,000 kilograms (equivalent to 125 electric cars) of plastic waste annually, reinforcing McDonald's broader sustainability efforts," shared the fast food chain.
