Sustainable Idol-Finding Apps
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Unveils a New Ganesha App
Kanesa D — June 10, 2024The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has pioneered the development of a dedicated mobile application. This app is designed to facilitate the procurement of environmentally sustainable Ganesha idols, offering citizens easy access to information about eco-friendly sculptors across the state. The primary goal is to encourage the adoption of greener alternatives during the upcoming festivities, mainly focusing on Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
The motivation behind this initiative stems from the increasing concern over environmental degradation caused by the immersion of traditional idols in water. The harmful impact of these materials on aquatic ecosystems has prompted the MPCB to focus on promoting environmentally friendly idols through the mobile app.
The mobile application will offer users a comprehensive database of eco-friendly Ganesha idols, allowing them to explore various options and learn about sustainable materials and practices. Additionally, the app will enable users to locate nearby vendors and sculptors who offer these environmentally sustainable alternatives.
Furthermore, the app will serve as a valuable educational tool, providing information on the environmental benefits of eco-friendly idols and the importance of sustainable practices during festivals.
