Lafarge Canada, a member of the Holcim Group, has selected ABB to update the process control system at its Bath Cement Plant in Kingston, Ontario. This modernization initiative is part of Lafarge's commitment to decarbonizing its operations. ABB will supply, commission, and support its ABB Ability™ System 800xA® distributed control system (DCS), which will provide operators with enhanced visibility and control over the plant’s processes. The Bath facility produces over one million tons annually of Lafarge’s OneCem® low-carbon cement, contributing to sustainable construction in Canada.

The upgraded process control system will enable ongoing energy savings and optimization opportunities for Lafarge’s operations team, ensuring seamless plant operations. Additionally, the plant is piloting an innovative carbon capture process with Hyperion, which holds significant potential to support Lafarge’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. This collaboration with ABB underscores Lafarge Canada's dedication to advancing sustainable construction and reducing carbon emissions per ton of cement produced.
