With an in-house recycling system, flooring brand Bolon steals the spotlight in the category of sustainable businesses. The company has been eco-conscious since its origin in 1949. Founder Nils-Erik Eklund surely was one of the pioneers who put emphasis on the responsible use of resources as he "collected waste material from local factories to make rag rugs."

Today, flooring brand Bolon upholds this legacy with its in-house recycling plant, located in its factory in Sweden. The good-natured facility specializes in the repurposing of vinyl -- the main constituent in Bolon products. The company's sustainability coordinator Michaela Ljungdahl reports that vinyl "can be recycled up to seven times, [hence] setting up a recycling facility was a logical step." As a result, each collection produced by Bolon boasts 33% of recycled fabrication.
