The IKEA FÖRÄNDRING Collection is a new lineup of housewares from the furniture retailer that aims to combat pollution plaguing India by transforming a waste material into sustainable furnishings.

A large amount of the air pollution in Northern India was found by researchers to be caused by rice straw being burned after harvesting to make way for new crops. India-based IKEA designer Akanksha Deo designed a series of housewares made from the waste material that would otherwise be burned and contribute to environmental pollution in various regions.

The IKEA FÖRÄNDRING Collection was unveiled at the annual Democratic Design Days conference in Älmhult, Sweden along with a new partnership with the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) for new clean air projects in the future.
