Plant Biomass-Based Furniture

Green Science Alliance Introduced 3D Printed Furniture

Green Science Alliance has created 3D-printed furniture using biodegradable resin made from plant biomass. This eco-friendly material was developed in-house and is designed to promote sustainable manufacturing. The company has produced various furniture pieces, including "tables, benches, shelves, lampshades, lighting covers, flower pots, and flooring; their PLA (Polylactic Acid)-based resin, made from renewable sources, can be used to create many types of furniture and objects through 3D printing."

To showcase these innovations, Green Science Alliance has opened a small exhibition space in Tokyo, Japan as the company plans to enhance its furniture with plant-based vegan paint and develop new designs using cellulose-based resin and organic waste materials like wood, seaweed, and paper. Moreover, the 3D printing process allows for faster production and lower costs than traditional furniture making.
