Low-Energy Cooling Solutions
Delta Electronics Showcased Innovations in Power and Computing
Colin Smith — October 25, 2024Delta unveiled its latest energy-saving power and liquid cooling solutions for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data centers at the OCP Global Summit 2024. Key innovations include the High Power Rack (HPR) ORV3 power systems with an efficiency of up to 97.5%, lithium-ion capacitors (LIC) with a hold-up time of 15 seconds at a 20 kW load, and a liquid-to-liquid cooling solution with a 1.5 MW capacity. Delta's solutions, including the world’s first 4,000W DC-DC converter for GPU-based servers, are designed to enhance energy efficiency and optimize performance in data centers.
Delta's ORV3 solutions offer advanced technologies that improve power delivery and cooling efficiency, crucial for AI workload scalability and data center sustainability. The 1RU/1OU Power Capacitance Shelf (PCS) mitigates GPU dynamic load reflections and provides stable power supply through fast charge and discharge capabilities. The 33kW power shelves with hot-pluggable power supply units support a load capability of 150% for 20 milliseconds, integrating smart power management for AI data centers. Additionally, the battery backup system with 33kW capacity and 97.5% efficiency ensures reliability and significant operational and carbon savings.
To address the thermal demands of AI-driven data centers, Delta's liquid cooling solutions, including Air Assisted Liquid Cooling (AALC) and Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), offer efficient and scalable cooling options. The cold plates and liquid-to-liquid CDUs provide a seamless transition for data centers from air-cooled to liquid-cooled systems, with a cooling capacity of over 135kW for advanced GPUs and CPUs. The comprehensive range of liquid cooling solutions, tailored for AI servers, switches, and racks, emphasizes Delta's commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and performance in modern data centers.
