Biodegradable Construction Materials
'Finite' is Made Out of Desert Sand and is Eco-Friendly
Kalin Ned — March 28, 2018Research scientists from the Imperial College London, located in the United Kingdom, have been experimenting with a biodegradable construction material. The solid substance is made out of desert sand and rumored to be a low-carbon alternative to concrete. Dubbed 'Finite,' the innovative material is addressing an ever-rising concern for ecology, as well as a depletion of construction-grade sand—"an essential ingredient to concrete."
The biodegradable construction alternative "uses abundant resources." While the recipe is bring kept a secret for now, Finite's makers are positive that the innovative material outperforms concrete on some counts, including a reduced carbon footprint. In addition, the biodegradable construction material is non-toxic and recyclable, as it can be left to decompose naturally, which makes it optimum for short-term infrastructure projects.
