POM-Free Beauty Dispensers
Aptar Beauty is Removing Polyoxymethylene From its Beauty Products
Colin Smith — November 28, 2024Aptar Beauty has announced the removal of polyoxymethylene (POM) from its beauty dispensing products, effective January 2025. POM, a formaldehyde releaser, has been replaced with polypropylene (PP) in their INUNE prestige pump collection, which was launched in 2021. This change aims to minimize environmental impact, as POM can be harmful to the environment. The new POM-free pumps are available in screw-on, crimp-on, and seal-tight versions, offering different spray options to cater to various consumer preferences.
The company's decision aligns with its commitment to sustainability and its membership in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment. Aptar Beauty is focusing on three pillars: recyclability, resin conversion, and reusability. By 2025, the company aims to achieve 10% recycled content in its dispensing solutions, eliminate problematic resins from all its products, and offer 100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable plastic packaging.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to combine performance, sustainability, and premium aesthetics in beauty packaging. Aptar Beauty's POM-free pumps are designed to maintain the integrity of fragrances while ensuring environmental safety. The company's approach reflects a growing trend in the beauty industry towards more sustainable and eco-friendly packaging solutions.
