Patented Plastic Recycling Technologies

Aduro Worked with TotalEnergies on New Recycling Methods

Aduro Clean Technologies Inc., a Canadian company, has partnered with French energy giant TotalEnergies to test a new recycling technology aimed at converting difficult-to-recycle plastic waste into valuable feedstocks. Aduro's Hydrochemolytic Technology (HCT) breaks down long carbon chains in water using chemical catalysts, transforming plastics and oils into usable chemicals. This collaboration will focus on optimizing the process for managing waste plastics with high concentrations of contaminants, such as metals and polyurethane, and aims to establish parameters for a scalable commercial process.

TotalEnergies' involvement in this partnership includes providing financial and technical support, which will help accelerate the development and potential integration of HCT into refining and petrochemical platforms. The goal is to produce high-value feedstocks suitable for the chemical industry, contributing to TotalEnergies' sustainability targets, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the use of circular feedstocks. This collaboration represents a significant step towards creating a practical and scalable solution for plastic waste recycling.

By partnering with TotalEnergies, Aduro aims to advance its technology and contribute to the global effort to reduce plastic pollution and promote a circular economy. The collaboration underscores the growing interest in sustainable recycling technologies and highlights the potential for innovative solutions to address environmental challenges. This partnership is expected to generate valuable data that will support the commercialization of HCT, making it a viable option for converting plastic waste into valuable resources. A few short weeks into this partnership, Aduro Clean Technologies has filed patents for its newfound plastic and oil recycling technologies.
