Climate Protest Art Works

Still/Moving Installed the No New Worlds Piece for the COP26 Conference
Elena Rahman — November 3, 2021Still/Moving installed a climate protest piece of art for the COP26 conference. This year's event includes The Colour of the Climate Crisis exhibition. Artworks in the show highlight the links between climate change and colonization. Still/Moving art collective created a 70-meter-long and six-meter-high illuminated sign as its contribution.
The sign reads "No New Worlds," insinuating this year's exhibition theme. The designers believe that patterns that mark colonialism are expansion, exploitation, and extraction, which in turn, have brought pivotal ecological changes. "We believe it is critical to constantly question the myth of infinite growth on a finite planet," stated the design company. The large neon sign reflects onto a nearby canal for an impactful and theatrical effect.
