Fast Retailing — which is minimalist fashion and lifestyle brand Uniqlo's parent company, revealed that it will be working toward eliminating the need for single-use plastics and, instead, will launch reusable eco-friendly bags. The turnover is said to happen in Uniqlo stores starting September 1st and to be within the scope of 12 global markets.

The reusable eco-friendly bags will be made out of recycled paper that has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Each will cost consumers an extra $0.10, which is a reasonable price.

Fast Retailing's goal is to adopt a sustainability-focused business model as quickly as possible, aiming to reduce the use of wasteful product packaging by 85% by the end of 2020. Combined with Uniqlo's clothing recycling program, the reusable eco-friendly bags are definitely a move in the right direction.
