Convenient Battery Recycling Options

'Recycle your Batteries, Canada!' is the latest sustainability campaign to hit Alberta, giving residents streamlined access to battery recycling through a province-wide rollout led by Call2Recycle. Officially launched on April 1 under the oversight of the Alberta Recycling Management Authority, this initiative empowers individuals to take simple actions that protect the environment and support a circular economy.

With more than 1,100 designated drop-off locations across the province -- including retail outlets, municipal buildings, and community centers -- residents can now conveniently dispose of household batteries. The initiative also features an online tool to help Albertans find their nearest collection point, making participation easier than ever.

By diverting batteries from landfills, the program helps reduce the harmful environmental effects of battery waste, such as soil and water contamination. This expansion reflects Call2Recycle’s ongoing commitment to nationwide environmental stewardship, with Alberta joining a growing network that helped collect over 6.8 million kilograms of batteries across Canada last year alone.
