Humanscale is a well-known brand specializing in the design and manufacturing of ergonomic office furniture and accessories, and recently, the brand pays homage to its growing Ocean Collection and its efforts for sustainability. In honor of Plastic Free July, Humanscale recounts its eco-conscious journey with a campaign. The brand started turning discarded fishing nets into chairs in 2016. It is worth noting that fishing nets are "widely regarded as the most harmful type of ocean plastic." Around 85% of materials used in Humanscale products are recycled and/or recyclable. The Smart Ocean chair was the first to be made from reclaimed ocean plastic. The Liberty and Path office chairs followed suit.
