The military museum in Florence, Oregon, is pioneering sustainability by incorporating advanced waste-to-energy technology to power its operations. 'Camp Liberty,' a $26 million initiative by the Oregon Coast Military Museum, will generate clean energy while providing jobs for veterans, demonstrating an innovative approach to environmental and economic sustainability.

Using pyrolysis, a high-temperature process that breaks down waste into usable energy, the museum will process up to 25 tons of waste daily without harmful emissions. This system reduces landfill dependency and produces surplus electricity for the community.

Beyond sustainability, the project will support veteran employment, enhance local tourism, and feature immersive exhibits, restaurants, and recreational spaces. This initiative sets a model for eco-conscious development by repurposing an old industrial site, blending historical preservation with cutting-edge environmental solutions.
