Medical Waste Incineration Facilities
Stericycle Opens a State-Of-The-Art Facility in Nevada
Kalin Ned — October 26, 2024Stericycle has opened a new regulated medical waste incineration facility in Nevada. The space is designed to address the growing need for proper disposal of medical and pharmaceutical waste.
This 110,000-square-foot facility is located at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Its advanced structure helps manage waste in a manner that aligns with rigorous environmental and health standards. In addition to handling infectious waste, it incorporates a Shred-it® bailing system to support the recycling of shredded paper. This allows it to promote a circular economy.
Other notable features of Stericycle's medical waste incineration facility include a water reuse system to eliminate industrial wastewater discharge and waste-to-energy technology to reduce the use of natural gas by generating steam from waste processing. Emissions are kept in check by stringent air pollution controls that go beyond basic regulatory requirements, which may be an attractive factor for consumers who prioritize environmental responsibility.
