Indian Waste Management Plants

Indore, India Debuts a PPP Model-Based Green Waste Processing Plant

Indore, an Indian city known for its clean landscapes, has officially launched the country's first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model-based green waste processing plant. Operating in the Bicholi Hapsi locality, the plant will primarily recycle wood and branches for wood pellets that will replace coal and conserve energy.

“Partnering with the Indore Municipal Corporation, Astronomical Industries Private Limited embarked on an ambitious initiative to transform the city’s green waste into something both sustainable and valuable—a fine sawdust that could be used across a wide array of industries,” said MoHUA officials.

The sawdust can be used to produce eco-friendly fuel, soil fertilizer, furniture, and packaging materials, while reducing overall reliance on coal. The wooden pellets are being used across businesses like the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
