Looop Helps H&M Turn Unwanted Garments Into New Styles
Laura McQuarrie — October 8, 2020References: prnewswire & hm
Looop is a new garment-to-garment recycling system from H&M that was created to close the loop and help give new life to unwanted pieces. In a few days, Looop will be opening in an H&M store in Stockholm and it gives customers the chance to see their old textiles turned into something new within a container-sized recycling machine. The process involves cleaning, then shredding garments into fibers so that they may be spun into new yarns.
As H&M describes, "This is part of a bigger plan - our ambition is to become fully circular and climate positive and we are working with many exciting projects to reach this goal. We must innovate materials and processes while inspiring customers to keep their garments in use for as long as possible."
