Colin Smith — December 23, 2024Shimano has introduced the EP5 motor, a new mid-drive motor designed for e-bikes. The EP5 motor delivers 60 Nm of torque and 250 watts of continuous power, making it suitable for Class 3 e-bikes with a top-assist speed of 28 mph. The motor is designed to provide a balanced assist output, enhancing the riding experience for both urban and sport cycling. By offering a mid-range motor option with advanced technology, Shimano aims to make e-bikes more accessible and enjoyable for a wider range of riders. The EP5 motor's integration with existing Shimano systems ensures compatibility and ease of installation, further supporting the adoption of e-bikes as a sustainable mode of transportation.
