eBay UK is Partnering with Love Island to Promote Sustainability
Colin Smith — January 9, 2025eBay UK has renewed its partnership with ITV2's Love Island: All Stars for the sixth consecutive season to promote sustainable fashion. The initiative involves dressing contestants in pre-loved clothing sourced from eBay's platform. This move aims to inspire viewers to embrace second-hand fashion by integrating it into one of television's most-watched shows. Since the partnership began in 2022, there has been a significant surge in interest for pre-owned clothing, with searches for "pre-loved fashion" on eBay increasing by over 400% after the summer 2024 season.
The collaboration aligns with eBay's broader sustainability goals by encouraging both buying and selling of second-hand clothing. The initiative features a curated wardrobe blending high-street brands and luxury designers, overseen by eBay's Pre-Loved Style Director, Amy Bannerman. Additionally, eBay has removed selling fees for pre-owned clothing to stimulate market growth. This partnership underscores the commercial viability of sustainable fashion while helping to reduce waste in the fashion industry.
