Bpacks, a UK-based sustainable packaging startup, has unveiled the world's first bark-based packaging technology. This groundbreaking innovation is said to address the challenge of integrating bio-packaging into existing plastic production streams by enabling compatibility with current equipment.

The announcement comes at a crucial time as European Union directives mandate the transition to biodegradable packaging within five years. Bpacks targets a substantial market opportunity, with bark production levels reaching 300 to 400 million square meters annually. The bark-based packaging technology boasts 100% bio-based materials, with up to 75% sourced from production waste.

Founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs and Ph.D. scientists and backed by an international advisory board, Bpacks aims to revolutionize waste solutions by providing eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic food packaging.
