Fully Recyclable Skin Packs

AIMPLAS, Covinil and Eroski Unite to Create PET Skin Pack Packaging

AIMPLAS, Covinil, and Eroski are teaming up to produce a 100% recyclable skin pack that allows consumers to sustainably and safely examine the quality of their meat before purchasing. Funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities and the European Union, the BOTTLE4FLEX project will focus on developing a food packaging solution that uses a solvolysis process for recycling while also modifying the PET material through partial depolymerization. This will be achieved using innovations in chemical recycling and polymerization technologies.

In the future, the BOTTLE4FLEX project will also experiment with technologies like reactive extrusion, monomers, and additives. Additionally, AIMPLAS, Covinil, and Eroski hope to create a solution that helps plastics transform into circular materials while exploring new production models.
