Union County has launched a county-wide textile recycling program in partnership with Helpsy, aiming to reduce landfill waste and promote sustainability. Starting in Plainfield, Scotch Plains, and Summit, residents can now recycle unwanted clothing, shoes, accessories, and household linens through conveniently located drop-off bins. Regardless of condition, items are repurposed for resale, reuse, or recycling, preventing them from entering landfills.

As part of the 'Union County 2025: Connecting Communities, Committed to Progress' initiative, the program reflects the county's dedication to environmental responsibility. Helpsy, a certified B-Corp, has already diverted over 31 million pounds of textiles from waste streams, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.

This initiative empowers residents to declutter responsibly while supporting greener communities. Drop-off locations include the Plainfield Transfer Station, Scotch Plains DPW Yard, and the Summit Transfer Station. By participating, residents contribute to reducing textile waste and promoting a healthier planet. For more details, visit Union County Recycling.
