Stockholm Exergi Makes Advancements Towards its BECCS Project
Debra John — March 28, 2025Stockholm Exergi has approved the construction of the world’s first large-scale Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) project. By utilizing "Capsol Technologies' carbon capture system, the project aims to permanently remove 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere each year, starting in 2028."
To support this initiative, Stockholm Exergi has secured agreements with Microsoft and Frontier Group, demonstrating strong corporate backing for carbon removal efforts. Furthermore, this milestone positions Capsol Technologies as a leader in the growing negative emissions market, emphasizing the increasing adoption of large-scale carbon capture solutions.
