Fjällräven's Samlaren Pack is Made with Excess Materials
Amy Duong — March 1, 2021Fjällräven has always focused on sustainable construction and its latest Samlaren collection continues to work with zero waste produced. The heritage outdoor label uses leftover fabrication to craft the items in the Samlaren range. The name of the capsule is Swedish for "The Gatherer."
Using materials gathered from its own factories and mills, the brand brings life back to the materials in new and refreshing ways. Fjällräven revisits some of its most iconic styles including the Greenland jacket, which kickstarted its journey. This is accompanied by the Kånken backpack, a cap, and a selection of tote bags. Due to the nature of the upcycled fabric, the looks boast color blocking designs to make up for the scarcity.
The brand's Global Creative Director, Henrik Andersson speaks about the capsule, “We refuse to throw away any materials during development, so it is completely designed around what fabrics and colors are leftover. In other words, we start with what we have not what we’d want, and then try to be as clever as possible when putting the fabrics together.”
