City Cleaning Campaigns

Patna Launches Mission Chakachak to Target Unauthorized Garbage Dumps

In an ambitious bid to make Patna a garbage-free city, the Patna Municipal Corporation has initiated Mission Chakachak, targeting unauthorized garbage dumps. The campaign, commencing from May 16th, entails clearing 630 illegal dump sites and beautifying them with different types of programs. The campaign will run ward-wise activities for a week until June 12th.

Mission Chakachak will operate at the zone level, with the respective zonal inspector overseeing activities. Every week, each ward within a zone will clean and beautify a selected garbage point, followed by daily programs to educate and involve local citizens. Notably, the authorities will enforce penalties on those who continue to litter the cleaned sites, issuing a blacklist of offenders and imposing fines.

In addition, daily checks for littering on main roads and cleaned sites will be carried out, and penalties levied on responsible individuals or institutions. The ward-wise postmortem report of this operation will be made public. Furthermore, the monitoring committee and ward councillors will assist in these efforts, and any personnel found neglecting their duties will face disciplinary action.
