Sustainable Children's Headphones
Kibu Officially Put its Collaborative Headphones on Sale
Colin Smith — April 18, 2024Kibu, a London-based technology startup, has introduced a line of sustainable headphones designed specifically for children. While these were announced earlier in 2023, Kibu has officially announced the presale launch for the product. These headphones are produced in collaboration with Batch.Works and Morrama, focusing on sustainability and user engagement. The Kibu Headphones are constructed using 3D printing technology from post-consumer waste, with over 70% of the components being recyclable. They are designed to be assembled, repaired, and recycled by the children themselves, promoting hands-on learning and environmental responsibility. The product also features the Kibu Safety Engine, which limits sound levels to 85 dB to protect young ears, and the Kibu Care service, offering complimentary replacement parts for accidental damage.
The Kibu Headphones are priced at £49. Pre-sales began on April 10, 2024, with shipping expected to commence in July 2024. The headphones can be purchased directly from Kibu’s website, and the company is exploring partnerships with retailers to increase the product’s accessibility. Kibu’s approach not only emphasizes the importance of sustainable consumer electronics but also aims to educate the younger generation about environmental stewardship through practical involvement with the product.
