Bio-PET Oil Bottles

Indorama Ventures and Partners Develop Bio-PET Bottles for Select Beverages

Indorama Ventures, in collaboration with Suntory, Neste, ENEOS, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Iwatani, has introduced the world’s first bio-PET bottle produced commercially using bio-based materials sourced from used cooking oil. This innovative product uses ISCC+-certified bio-paraxylene to meet rigorous standards for sustainable and traceable sourcing while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Suntory Group, a key partner in this initiative, will roll out approximately 45 million bio-PET bottles this month for select beverage brands in Japan. The company plans to expand the use of these bottles across additional products in the future. The manufacturing process occurs at ISCC+-certified plants and entails oil treatment, resin production, and packaging.

“This exciting collaboration reflects the shared vision and responsibility of all partners involved to contribute to a more sustainable future," said Yash Lohia, executive president Petchem Special Projects and chairman of Indorama Ventures’ ESG Council.
