IBM and L'Oréal Prioritize the Creation of Sustainable Cosmetics

L'Oréal, a brand that consumers have loved for decades, plans to use IBM's generative AI technology to explore new sustainable insights in cosmetic formulation data.
"As part of our Digital Transformation Program, this partnership will extend the speed and scale of our innovation and reformulation pipeline, with products always reaching higher standards of inclusivity, sustainability, and personalization", said Stéphane Ortiz, Head of Innovation Métiers & Product Development at L'Oréal Research & Innovation.
L'Oréal hopes this partnership will contribute to its goal of sourcing most of its product formulas from bio-sourced materials and/or circular economies by 2030. This partnership also hopes to transform the standards of the cosmetics industry.
