StePacPPC has introduced green packaging solutions to "replace traditional ice-filled polystyrene and waxed carton boxes for transporting fresh broccoli and other vegetables over long distances; this innovative Modified Atmosphere/Modified Humidity (MA/MH) packaging is already being used in the US and Japan as a sustainable alternative."

In Japan, the Otofuke Agricultural Cooperative (JA Otofuke), a major broccoli producer, uses ‘StePacPPC’s Xtend’ bulk bags to ship broccoli from Hokkaido to Yokohama. While polystyrene foam boxes are effective for keeping produce cool, they are "non-recyclable, easily break apart, and harm the environment."

With growing global efforts to phase out polystyrene, Japan is increasing its focus on reducing non-recyclable materials. StePacPPC’s green packaging addresses these concerns, providing an environmentally friendly and efficient option for fresh produce transportation.
