Compostable Sushi Packaging

BioPak is introducing the BioBoard Sushi Tray, a new packaging solution composed of FSC Premium paper and an aqueous coating. This new solution, which comes in five sizes for versatility, offers sushi retailers across Australia and New Zealand an innovative path toward compostable packaging.

Businesses can opt for industrially compostable PLA lids certified to AS4736 standards or recyclable PET lids, adding versatility to their eco-conscious choices. Developed in collaboration with one of Australia’s prominent sushi retailers, this initiative empowers food businesses to embrace sustainable practices without sacrificing quality or presentation.

“Many people aren’t aware that the traditional black plastic sushi trays commonly used today are often non-recyclable. Despite this, they remain a staple for many sushi retailers. Our new BioBoard trays are a sustainable, high-quality alternative — a true win-win," said Trevor Rumble, BioPak’s product & innovations director.
