Eco-Friendly Berry Pads

Elliott Absorbent Products Introduced the 'Echo' Fruit Pad

Elliott Absorbent Products has unveiled the 'Echo' fruit pad, an innovative solution designed to extend the shelf life of berries by up to 12 hours. This product is fully recyclable and compostable, enabling environmentally responsible disposal by consumers.

The Echo pads are produced using Tensei second harvest technology and made from sustainable materials, including straw crop residues such as "seeds, skins, and fibers, along with perennial grasses and annual fiber crops." Matt Hankins, Managing Director of Elliott Absorbent Products, emphasized that these pads offer berry growers a practical approach to reducing food waste and minimizing the ecological impact of packaging.

Additionally, the pads feature an embossed surface that cushions the fruit, which helps to mitigate spoilage and reduce product loss. Independent tests with fruit distributors and growers have confirmed the "effectiveness of these pads, which hold approximately 500 ml of distilled water per square meter, ensuring optimal moisture control without requiring perforations."
