Pulp Foam Packaging

Stora Enso Launches the Eco-Friendly 'Papira' Pulp Foam Packaging

Papira, a unique, lightweight foam created from pulp fibers by Stora Enso and a finalist for the Sustainability Awards, has been introduced as a recyclable packaging substitute for materials derived from fossil fuels. Their novel approach is completely recyclable and devoid of plastic at the curbside level and in paper waste streams. To ensure that just the appropriate amount of packing is used, the foam can be specifically optimized for the form and size of the product it is intended to cushion.

Papira is anticipated to take the place of polymeric packaging foams like expanded polystyrene, polyurethane, and polyethylene. Furthermore, no toxic chemicals, blowing agents, solvents, or fossil fuels are reported to be used in its creation.
