To address the catering food waste generated by its operations, Qatar Airways has successfully installed the 'LFC-500 biodigester' from Power Knot LLC. This partnership underscores Qatar Airways' commitment to sustainability and plays a key role in its efforts to minimize environmental impact.

The LFC-500 biodigester "processes between 175 and 1500 kg (380 to 3300 lbs) of food waste per day, converting it into grey water that can be safely discharged." By adopting this technology, Qatar Airways reduces its reliance on landfills, lowers transportation costs, and cuts carbon emissions, supporting its sustainability initiatives.

This installation aligns with Qatar Airways' broader environmental goals, which include "achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050." The introduction of the LFC-500 biodigester marks a significant step in the airline's ongoing efforts to implement more eco-friendly practices across its operations.
