Barratt Homes is Creating Safe Spaces for Wildlife

To celebrate World Wildlife Day on March 3rd, Barratt Homes is showcasing its commitment to sustainable development and ecological preservation. At Aston Grange in Upper Lighthorne and Elborough Place in Rugby, the company has established dedicated wildlife-friendly spaces, introduced a variety of native plant species, and incorporated energy-efficient features into its properties.

As part of these efforts, the developer has installed 112 bird and bat boxes to encourage nesting, cultivated 14 wildflower meadows to support pollinators, and constructed 14 habitat and log piles to provide shelter for small creatures. Additionally, 1,820 meters of hedgehog highways have been created to allow safe movement for these nocturnal animals, and over 6,274 new trees have been planted to enhance the natural landscape.

“We are dedicated to making our homes as energy efficient as possible and for our developments to compliment the natural wonders of the UK that we all know and cherish. With these initiatives, we plan on making our homes as cheap to run as possible, our developments as ecologically friendly as possible, and our future as a company as green as we can," said Nicola Foster, Senior Sales Manager at Barratt Homes West Midlands
