Sustainable 6G Technology Trials

The 6G-VERSUS Project is an Effort Comprised of 34 Partners

The 6G-VERSUS Project, initiated by the 6G-Versus Consortium, aims to drive sustainable innovation through large-scale 6G technology trials. The project focuses on five key verticals across six pilot sites, integrating artificial intelligence and network applications to enhance sustainability. The consortium comprises 34 partners from 10 countries, including academic institutions, industrial partners, small and medium-sized enterprises, and non-governmental organizations. The project's objectives include developing a 6G-enabled application framework, assessing its performance, sustainability impact, scalability, and business models through real-life use cases.

Each pilot site focuses on a distinct use case to demonstrate the potential of 6G technology. For instance, Bulgaria is testing an AI-driven optimization system for distributed renewable energy, while Greece is piloting collaborative robotics for search and rescue operations. Other pilots include immersive telepresence for field operations in Spain, sustainable port infrastructures in Portugal, data-driven strategies for water and waste management in France, and an energy self-sustainable 5G base station in Finland. The project underscores the transformative impact of 6G technology on sustainability and vertical industries.
