Regenerative Organic Wine Methods

Southbrook Organic Vineyards Boasts Sustainable Practices

Southbrook Organic Vineyards is the first winery in Canada to earn Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) status, adding to its Organic (ECOCERT, 2008) and Biodynamic (Demeter, 2008) certifications. This recognition highlights its strong commitment to sustainability and ethical winemaking.

By using regenerative organic farming, Southbrook improves soil health, boosts biodiversity, and captures carbon from the atmosphere. Founder Bill Redelmeier explains, “Being regenerative means improving things, not just reducing harm.”

The vineyard follows biodynamic practices, using natural methods to enrich the soil and support a balanced ecosystem. Its LEED Gold-Certified Hospitality Pavilion is designed for energy efficiency and water conservation. Additional sustainability efforts include solar panels, drip irrigation, wildlife habitats, and pollinator gardens. By "capturing six to twelve times more carbon than traditional vineyards," Southbrook shows that great wine can be made while helping the environment.
