Pantalones Tequila is pioneering a new packaging innovation from Ino, a startup utilizing silkworm cocoons to create protective packaging. Branded as InoArmor, this silk-filled packaging serves as a cushioning material encased in a biodegradable polymer bag. The product offers a home compostable alternative to conventional plastic protective packaging.

According to Ino, testing of the silkworm cacoon-based packaging revealed that InoArmor outperformed air-filled plastic packaging due to its enhanced resistance to punctures. This makes the innovation ideal for transporting fragile products.

Ino's journey began with a focus on finding a replacement for expanded polystyrene foam in bike helmets. The brand's success in developing a silk-based cushioning element for bike helmets prompted them to venture into the packaging industry. Despite challenges in sourcing and processing natural silk, Ino is committed to delivering sustainable and effective packaging solutions.
